Fall of Ro-Lente Castle
ロ・レンテ城陥落
World & HistoryBattles & Events
Vol. 14 (Years 3–5 after the transfer), the final stage of the battle for the capital: the royal castle Ro-Lente fell, Ramposa III died in the throne room, and Renner, offering this as proof of her allegiance, formally joined Nazarick.
- After the Kingdom's army was destroyed, Ramposa III ordered the retainers remaining in the castle to flee by night and stayed behind himself as the last king; he first took the crown, scepter, and other royal property from the treasury to hand over to the Sorcerer King, then accepted Renner's advice that "hiding these would reduce the destruction"
- The King told Climb about a secret passage and entrusted him with the treasures, which Climb hid in a designated storehouse; alone with Renner, the King gave her a vial (presumably for suicide)
- The same day, Brain set out alone to challenge the Sorcerer King to single combat and ultimately died at Cocytus's hands; Aura and her beasts defeated Vesture and his top pupils
- Meanwhile, Ainz, the Guardians, and Renner had prepared a "little play"; when Climb returned to the castle, he found Ramposa III already dead in the throne room
- The original does not state the King's cause of death (Japanese Wikipedia only says that someone stabbed him): the Japanese wiki speculates that Renner cut him down with Razor Edge, while Japanese Wikipedia records that Climb guessed Renner did it under the control of Demiurge's cursed words; the details are unknown
- Climb challenged the Sorcerer King and died (see the "Duel at Ro-Lente Castle" entry), was revived in Nazarick by Pestonya, and accepted becoming a demon; Renner formally joined Nazarick, and her race is Imp
- After the battle Guren was summoned to the capital and ordered to burn everything except the royal palace; the Sorcerer Kingdom's army continued its advance to destroy the remaining Kingdom territory
Notes
According to Japanese sources, Renner had begun cooperating with Demiurge before "Gehenna" and obtained the rank of Area Guardian (her epithet in the Vol. 14 character profile is "Area Guardian of a single room"); this was reportedly conditional on "her schemes not being exposed before the Sorcerer Kingdom's invasion of the Kingdom" (unverified).
