Ramposa III
ランポッサⅢ世
King of the Re-Estize KingdomRe-Estize KingdomHumanUnknown
Personality
Merciful and free of personal greed, he wishes only to leave behind a country where his people can live well. But he is too kind, and he missed his chance to abdicate out of pity for his eldest son. He trusted Gazef deeply and broke down in grief at news of his death. Zanac judges him "merciful, but that's all," while granting that he is good at gathering people more capable than himself.
Abilities
- Reigned for 39 years, keeping the country from splitting while caught between the Nobility and Royalty Factions
- According to Zanac he is good at gathering people more capable than himself; the one he trusted most was Gazef
- An old war wound damaged his knee, and he walks with a cane
History
- Heard Gazef's report on Carne Village and Ainz Ooal Gown and, weary of the nobles' power struggles and formalities at court, muttered "I envy the Empire" (Vol. 3). He is also said to have apologized for not equipping Gazef with the royal treasures (unverified)
- In the Demonic Disturbance in the Royal Capital, on Renner's advice, he personally led Gazef's Warrior Troop into battle. This gave the Royalty Faction the upper hand but upset the balance between the factions (Vol. 6)
- At the Battle of the Katze Plains, Ainz's magic massacred the Kingdom army, and he barely escaped death. After the war he ceded E-Rantel and broke down on learning of Gazef's death. He asked Lakyus to resurrect Gazef without success (possibly Gazef himself refused) and, in his anger, injured her face; whether the wound was literal or figurative is unclear (Vols. 9–10, Vol. 10 p. 158)
- After Philip attacked a Sorcerer Kingdom food convoy, the king offered his own head in apology to Albedo, who had come to declare war, but she refused. Because he clung to diplomacy, Zanac and others placed him under house arrest (Vol. 14)
- As the Royal Capital was about to fall, he followed Renner's advice to "hide the Kingdom's symbols" and entrusted the crown and other treasures to Climb. He later turned up as a corpse in the Throne Room, presumably killed by Renner with Razor Edge (Vol. 14)
Trivia
In the Vol. 14 afterword the author calls him "the man who beat Albedo": his offer of his head as an apology exceeded Albedo's predictions.
