Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself
ラナー・ティエール・シャルドロン・ライル・ヴァイセルフ
The "Golden" Third Princess; later Nazarick's 9th Floor "Area Guardian of a single room"Re-Estize KingdomHuman → Demon (Imp)Total Lv10 (Vol. 14: racial Lv1 + job Lv9)
Personality
Outwardly the gentle, merciful "Golden Princess" who cares for commoners, she is in truth a "heteromorph of the mind" who understands good and evil yet is not bound by them in the least, able to sell out her family and country without batting an eye. She has almost no feelings for other humans. Her one obsession is Climb: she wants him to look only at her, forever, with those pure eyes.
Abilities
- Her powers of "thought" (insight, observation, comprehension, and planning) are extraordinary and considered on a par with Albedo's and Demiurge's
- Quickly cracked the coded documents taken from the Eight Fingers' hideouts, and built, with no one's backing, an intelligence network that even Marquis Raeven never noticed (this point unverified)
- Proposed reforms such as abolishing the slave trade, paying adventurers bounties, and having troops under the king's direct command patrol the highways. The great nobles blocked most of them and they were scrapped; Jircniv quietly borrowed some of them
- A superb actress who switches between roles, such as the innocent princess or the ignorant princess, as the occasion demands
- Reborn as a demon in Vol. 14. From Vol. 6 onward, a Shadow Demon from Nazarick accompanied her and relayed messages between her and Demiurge (Vols. 6, 10)
History
- As a child, her intellect so far outstripped everyone else's that no one understood her. Her mind grew warped, and she was slowly dying of anorexia until she took in the street urchin Climb and found fulfillment in his gaze (Vols. 3, 6)
- Asked Blue Roses to investigate the Eight Fingers, then allied with Marquis Raeven and Zanac to wipe out the organization's hideouts (Vols. 5–6)
- During the unrest in the Royal Capital she made contact with Demiurge and offered herself to Nazarick; nine-tenths of the events leading up to the Kingdom's fall are said to have been her schemes (Vols. 6, 14)
- When the Sorcerer Kingdom invaded the Royal Capital she stayed in the castle. Her father, King Ramposa III, handed over the symbols of royal authority; then, alone with her, he gave her a vial (probably for suicide). The king was later found dead in the Throne Room, killed with Razor Edge. The original does not show the killing, but the circumstances suggest Renner did it (speculative wording). She then had Ainz help her stage a scene in the Throne Room for Climb to see (Vol. 14)
- Transformed into an Imp, she swore loyalty to Ainz, had Climb revived with Nazarick's help, and led him to become an ageless demon alongside her. The two now live in a single room on Nazarick's 9th Floor (Vol. 14)
Trivia
The official Japanese form of her name is "Chardelon" (シャルドロン); "Chardelun" (シャルドルン), common among fans, is a misspelling. In the author's ranking of ruling ability she places first by a wide margin, as "beyond comprehension."
