World & HistoryOrganizations

An eight-division criminal organization ruling the Re-Estize Kingdom's underworld, infiltrating commoners and nobles alike; after the turmoil in the Royal Capital it was "baptized" by Nazarick and submitted.

  • The name comes from the eight fingers of the "God of Theft," a subordinate god of the God of Earth (in the Web novel, from Divanack, the Evil Deity of depravity and pleasure)
  • Eight divisions: narcotics (Hilma), slave trade (Cocco Doll), security ("Battle Demon" Zero and the Six Arms), smuggling, assassination, theft, finance, and gambling
  • The organization grew out of several groups that merged, and its divisions undermine one another; failing to attend the division heads' meeting in the Royal Capital is treated as betrayal and punished by purge; meetings are chaired by a speaker wearing the God of Water's holy symbol
  • The drug "Lyra powder" (black powder) is touted as having no side effects and even flows into the Empire
  • During Gehenna the Six Arms were wiped out by Sebas and others, and the division heads were taken to Nazarick for Kyouhukou's baptism
  • Thereafter they secretly manipulated the Kingdom under Albedo's direction, and before the Kingdom fell about 1,000 associates moved to a village in the Sorcerer Kingdom
  • Known division heads: Hilma of narcotics, Cocco Doll of slavery, Zero of security, and Noah Zweden of gambling (Vol. 14); there are also Prian Polson, Olin, Oscas, Endio, and others whose divisions are unknown
  • The slavery division declined as Renner pushed to abolish the slave trade; the smuggling division was badly hit in Vol. 14, where the great merchant Christopher Olson appears
  • Members hiring the organization's own mercenaries must also pay, at higher rates than mercenaries of the same grade, but these mercenaries need not be silenced even after a crime, and they will fight to the death to cover a retreat, because any who flee are killed by the Eight Fingers (Vol. 14)
  • First Prince Barbro obtained funds from the narcotics division (Vol. 6); the spread of drugs was also one reason the Theocracy decided to give up on the Kingdom
