First Battle of Carne Village

カルネ村襲撃

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 1, Year 1 after the transfer (days 1–4): Slane Theocracy troops disguised as Imperial knights attacked Carne Village on the Kingdom's border; Momonga (Ainz) saw the attack in the Mirror of Remote Viewing, saved the village, and called himself "Ainz Ooal Gown" for the first time.

The attackers were Slane Theocracy troops disguised as Baharuth Imperial knights, aiming to lure Warrior Captain Gazef out of E-Rantel so the Sunlight Scripture could hunt him down
Carne Village is a frontier settlement of about 120 people in 25 households; because it lay near the territory of the "Wise King of the Forest," it had never been attacked by monsters and did not even have a fence
Momonga at first saw no benefit in saving the village, but the sight of Sebas standing by reminded him of Touch Me's motto, "helping someone in trouble is only natural"; he rushed there by teleportation ([Gate], unverified) and saved the sisters Enri and Nemu
Momonga used [Create Middle Tier Undead] to turn a knight's corpse into a Death Knight; Belius, captain of the disguised unit, begged it for his life and was brutally killed, and Londes Di Clamp, who took command and tried to retreat, was killed by it as well
When Enri asked his name after he had saved the two sisters, he gave not his guildmaster name, "Momonga," but "Ainz Ooal Gown"; after driving off the knights, he asked the village chief for basic information about the New World
Gazef then arrived with his warrior troop, Ainz learned that the attack was a Slane Theocracy plot, and events led straight into the "Sunlight Scripture Confrontation"
About half the villagers died in this attack (recalled in Vol. 8)
