Vol. 7, October of Year 1 after the transfer: following Demiurge's design, the Empire's Count Femel hired several worker teams to "investigate ruins"; they invaded the Great Tomb of Nazarick and were almost entirely wiped out.

Workers are mercenaries who have left the Adventurer's Guild to take shady jobs; the participating teams were "Foresight," "Heavy Masher," Parpatra's team, and "Tenmu"
The nominal client was Count Femel, but in fact Jircniv steered this expendable noble into sending workers to investigate; Jircniv later received a [Message] reporting that "no workers survived," after which Aura and Mare flew to the Imperial capital on dragons to demand an explanation; it is also said that Demiurge set things up on Nazarick's side to use the occasion to reveal Nazarick's existence to the neighboring nations (unverified)
Parpatra's team was defeated by Nazarick Old Guarders equipped with lightning war hammers, among others, and was the first to suffer deaths
Heavy Masher's leader Gringham and its thief were sent to the "Black Capsule"
Tenmu's leader Erya was assigned to Hamsuke as a sparring partner for her martial arts practice and died after his arm was cut off and his face smashed; his three elf slaves were pardoned and later became Aura and Mare's attendants
Foresight fought Ainz in the amphitheater, and Hekkeran's words angered Ainz; Arche fled alone, was caught by the pursuing Shalltear, broke down at the sight of her true form, and was finally granted "a painless death"
Afterward, the Empire sent Count Femel's head to Nazarick as an apology, and Ainz turned it into a Death Knight; Jircniv visited in person and allied with the Sorcerer Kingdom

Notes

In the Web novel, Arche survived and became Shalltear's "pet"; sources explain that the author chose this ending based on a vote in readers' comments.
