Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix
ジルクニフ・ルーン・ファーロード・エル=ニクス
Emperor of the Baharuth Empire, known as the "Bloody Emperor"Baharuth EmpireHumanUnknown (Web novel: in Arcadia reader-comment reply [3122], the author said he is "not even level 5")
Personality
A born ruler, calm, shrewd, and immensely charismatic, he always presents himself to his subjects as a composed, confident, and strong monarch. His mother, the empress, poisoned his father, and he executed his brothers after taking the throne; part of him has long been warped, and he has little affection even for his own children. Faced with Ainz, he tends to over-read every move, vents his frustration when alone, and suffers stomach pain and hair loss from the stress.
Abilities
- Holds absolute political and military power in the Empire: he purged the nobility with an iron hand, employed talented commoners, and established centralized rule
- Extremely keen insight and intuition: even when his subordinates could find no watcher, he vaguely sensed that someone was secretly spying on him (Vol. 10; whether it was actually Ainz watching with magic is unverified)
- Wears a Medallion of Mental Protection, a magical beast-hide cloak that guards against magic, and a unicorn ring that detects and resists poison
- Later, so as not to waste the unicorn ring, he searched far and wide himself and obtained a magic ring that suppresses stomach pain (from a side story the author published on Hameln; non-canon)
History
- As a teenager, when his mother the empress poisoned his father the emperor, he took the throne at once. He wiped out his mother's family on charges of regicide, executed his brothers one after another, and swept away opposing nobles with the knight orders, earning the name "Bloody Emperor" (background)
- Discussed with Fluder the magic caster Ainz, who had appeared at Carne Village (Vol. 6 interlude). On learning of Nazarick, he had a noble he meant to discard hire workers to scout it, which brought Aura and Mare to the imperial castle (Vol. 7)
- Forced to go to Nazarick to apologize, he took the initiative in allying with Ainz and urged him to found a nation. He declared war on the Kingdom and asked Ainz to take the field, which led to the massacre on the Katze Plains (Vol. 9)
- He secretly contacted the Slane Theocracy and the Empire's temples to plot an anti-Sorcerer Kingdom alliance, but Ainz broke up their secret meeting at the imperial arena. Considering himself utterly beaten in the battle of wits, he asked to become a vassal of the Sorcerer Kingdom (Vol. 10)
- Once he had submitted, his stomach pain and hair loss actually cleared up. In the waiting room before an audience with the Sorcerer King he met Pe Riyuro, king of the Quagoa and a fellow sufferer, who became the first true friend of his life (Vol. 13)
- After the Kingdom was destroyed his stomach pain returned, and he wore the stomach-soothing magic ring he had found himself. He received an invitation bearing the Sorcerer King's seal from the Sorcerer Kingdom's Prime Minister, Albedo, asking him to attend a welcoming ceremony for a visit by the Holy Kingdom's "Faceless." He feigned stomach pain, hoping to send Nimble in his place, but as the ruler of a vassal state he could not refuse, and Nimble began preparations (from the side story "色んな人の現状。のプロローグ" ("Prologue: How Everyone Is Doing"), which the author published in the "Chirashi no Ura" (scratch-paper) section of Hameln; non-canon)
Trivia
He has a special talent for ventriloquism. In the ranking of "women I dislike" in his head, Renner has held first place firmly for years.
