Duel at Loyts

ロイツでの魔導王対ヤルダバオト

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 13, late winter to early spring of Year 3 after the transfer: about three weeks after the Siege of Loyts, the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth (Demiurge) reappeared, fought a "decisive battle" with the Sorcerer King, and claimed to have defeated him; in reality, Ainz was staging his own death.

  • Loyts is a small city of under 20,000, less than five days' travel east-northeast of Kalinsha; it was used as a prison camp during Jaldabaoth's occupation and became the liberation army's base after they retook it
  • About three weeks later (just after Neia had become captain of the archers), Jaldabaoth appeared at Loyts, swinging Calca's corpse as a blunt weapon
  • The "demon maids" who fought alongside Jaldabaoth were fakes; the fake Shizu was Shizu's own doppelgänger
  • The Sorcerer King was "defeated" and fell into the Abelion Hills; the same day, the liberation army organized a search party and began searching the area as far as the fortress line
  • Three days later, the Zern offered to betray Jaldabaoth in exchange for the rescue of their prince; Shizu joined the liberation army with the cover story that "the Sorcerer King had seized control of her during the battle"
  • News of the Sorcerer King's "death" spread to every nation; Jircniv scoffed at it during a meeting with Pe Riyuro
  • Ainz had discussed it with Albedo and Demiurge beforehand, framing the fake death as a Nazarick "disaster drill" in case its master ever died

Notes

The Japanese sources' timeline jokingly describes the use of Calca's corpse as a weapon as "the rotting holy club was beaten into mince."
