Imperial Colosseum Incident

帝国闘技場での武王戦

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 10 (Year 2 after the transfer, a few months after the Sorcerer Kingdom's founding): Ainz slipped into the Empire and defeated and killed the eighth Martial Lord, Go Gin, in the imperial arena; Jircniv's secret meeting with the Theocracy fell apart, and on the spot he begged to become a vassal state of the Sorcerer Kingdom.

  • A few months after the Sorcerer Kingdom's founding, Ainz secretly entered the Empire with Adventurer's Guildmaster Ainzach and, taking up Ainzach's suggestion, decided to show off the Sorcerer Kingdom's might in the imperial arena
  • At 10 a.m. the next day, Ainz negotiated with Osk, the arena's most powerful promoter, and arranged a bout; Osk is the one who had brought Go Gin, then on a warrior's pilgrimage, to the arena
  • Meanwhile, Jircniv hired the adamantite-rank adventurers "Argenti" as guards and met in secret in an arena VIP room with a Slane Theocracy envoy (a Scripture member) and a cardinal of the Imperial temples, aiming to form an alliance against the Sorcerer Kingdom
  • Ainz appeared and greeted Jircniv and the envoys, which wrecked the meeting and destroyed the Theocracy's trust in Jircniv
  • Go Gin is a war troll specialized in combat and the eighth Martial Lord; arena rules banned flight, teleportation, and similar magic; Ainz won the bout, and Go Gin died
  • Ainz immediately revived Go Gin and used this to promote the new adventurer system he had created
  • Concluding that he had been utterly outplayed in the battle of wits, Jircniv asked on the spot to become Ainz's vassal; Ainz put off his answer and went home; Argenti later moved their base to the Karsanas City-State Alliance

Notes

Sources record that the imperial arena once executed losers; the practice ended after a gladiator on a losing streak, spared because he was "interesting," climbed all the way to Martial Lord.
