Characters
Zanac Valleon Igana Ryle Vaiself
ザナック・ヴァルレオン・イガナ・ライル・ヴァイセルフ
Second Prince, "The Last King of the Vaiself Royal Family"Re-Estize KingdomHumanTotal Lv8 (Vol. 14)
Personality
Fat and deliberately playing the mediocrity, he is in fact what Marquis Raeven calls "the only member of the royal family who can see the danger and act for the future," and the author rates him "ordinarily capable." He speaks casually with allies and has a habit of licking his lips before saying something harsh. He believes he falls short of his father, brother, and sister in popularity, dignity, and wisdom, and underrates himself.
Abilities
- Solid political and administrative skills; after the war he single-handedly shouldered the Royalty Faction and the affairs of state
- Saw through Renner's abnormality and knew how to make use of it; allied with Marquis Raeven in the contest for the throne
- In the decisive battle he wore the Kingdom's treasures: the Amulet of Immortality, the Guardian Armor, and the Gauntlets of Endurance
History
- Vol. 5: Sarcastically asked Climb whether he was off to see "that monster." Vol. 6: Held a secret meeting with Marquis Raeven and Renner; having seen through Renner's true nature, he allied with her, agreeing in return to allow her union with Climb
- In the Demonic Disturbance in the Royal Capital he led Marquis Raeven's troops in guiding commoners to safety, winning renown (Vol. 6)
- After the Katze Plains massacre and Barbro's "disappearance," he became heir to the throne; he ran the government in place of his despondent father and dealt with the Sorcerer Kingdom envoy Albedo (Vols. 9–10)
- After the Sorcerer Kingdom declared war, he placed his father under house arrest and led the Kingdom's last great army into the field. When he met Ainz before the battle, he understood Ainz's thinking and secured a promise of a painless death for himself and his men (Vol. 14)
- Back at camp, nobles and mercenaries desperate to live betrayed and killed him and presented his head to Ainz, who angrily ordered the traitors severely punished (Vol. 14)
Trivia
The stress of the Sorcerer Kingdom's invasion made him binge and grow fatter, and when he mounted his beloved horse it gave him a reproachful look.
Relationships
- Ramposa III: Father: "kindness is his only virtue, but it draws talent to him"; Zanac respected him but disagreed with his reluctance to take risks, and finally staged a coup and placed him under house arrestunverified
- Barbro Andrean Ield Ryle Vaiself: Older brother (First Prince); after his disappearance Zanac was troubled that no body was ever found
- Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself: Half-sister; honestly he doesn't much like her and is wary of her for being too clever: "That's not love, little sister"
- Elias Brandt Dale Raeven: Ally and the closest thing he has to a friend; the marquis's knowledge helped greatly, but after the massacre he returned to his domain
- Climb: Better than an ordinary warrior; Zanac thinks keeping him only as Renner's guard is a waste of talent
- Albedo: A peerless beauty exuding a faint air of darkness, the Sorcerer Kingdom's envoy
- Ainz Ooal Gown: Terrifying and unfathomable in appearance, but his wish to make those dear to him happy is the same as anyone's; they met before the decisive battle
