Assassination of Elf King Decem

エルフ王デケム・ホウガンの死

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 16, during the Theocracy army's attack on the elven capital: Elf King Decem first fought Ainz in the royal castle, lost, and fled, and was then killed by the Black Scripture's Extra Seat (Antilene), who had slipped into the castle.

  • Earlier, the Theocracy had committed the Holocaust Scripture to support its invasion force, which Rugi was holding back single-handedly; vice-captain Schoen killed Princess Rugi and was then killed by the Behemot summoned by Decem, who had appeared; only then did the Theocracy decide to send its strongest, the Extra Seat
  • The Extra Seat is the daughter born after Decem abducted and violated Faine, the Theocracy's trump card, so the mission was also personal for her
  • Marshal Valerian led the Theocracy army against the city, and the Extra Seat slipped into the royal castle under cover of the assault
  • Decem encountered Ainz and the twins on the floor below the treasury and fought Ainz; when Ainz went on the offensive, Decem managed to flee, with Mare in pursuit
  • The Extra Seat killed Decem inside the royal castle (the timeline also records that she "killed him once more"); she brutally slew the women in Decem's room
  • The Extra Seat then fought the pursuing Mare, who captured her and took her to Nazarick's Frozen Prison; from her memories Ainz learned that Shalltear's brainwashing was the Slane Theocracy's doing, and he resolved to destroy it
  • Decem is a druid specializing in summoning who inflicted devastating losses on the Black Scripture over a hundred years ago; he commands "Behemot," a Lv87 Primal Earth Elemental, and Ainz estimated his level at 70–80
  • The specifics of his death (pinned underfoot after being subdued, suffocated, and finally stomped on until his spine broke) are unverified

Notes

Decem means "ten" in Latin, so one theory in Japanese sources holds that his father (one of the Eight Greed Kings) may have been called "Kurou Hougan," that is, Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
