Duel at the Elven Royal Castle

エルフの王城での戦い（マーレ vs 絶死絶命）

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 16, after the Kingdom's fall (sometime in Years 3–5 after the transfer): while pursuing the Elf King in the elven royal castle, Mare encountered the Black Scripture's Extra Seat, "Zesshi Zetsumei," who had just killed the Elf King, and defeated and captured her, which led the Sorcerer Kingdom to war with the Slane Theocracy.

Ainz and the twins slipped into the elven royal castle, then under siege by the Slane Theocracy, and Ainz fought Elf King Decem Hougan on the way to the treasury; beaten until he lost all will to fight, Decem fled, and while Ainz and Aura went on to the treasury, Mare took up the pursuit.
The fleeing Decem ran into the Extra Seat (Antilene Heran Fouche), who had been sent out and was lying in wait, and she killed him with ease.
Mare then entered and fought the Extra Seat; sources note that this time Mare deliberately avoided his favorite attack spells and had changed into formal-wear armor he does not usually wear, and that the Extra Seat could go toe-to-toe with the Lv100 Mare.
The Extra Seat healed herself with divine spells of up to the 3rd tier and even used a trump-card skill of the same type as Ainz's and Shalltear's, but in the end Mare defeated and captured her; details such as her being cornered by Mare's physical attacks and finally felled by [Petit-Catastrophe] are unverified.
The Extra Seat was taken to Nazarick; after reading her memories, Ainz confirmed that the Slane Theocracy had controlled Shalltear, dropped everything else, and resolved to destroy the Slane Theocracy.
The Elf Country fell after the Elf King's death (unverified); sources speculate that Mare also used an elemental-summoning item, but the original does not say so.
Other sources state that on first seeing Mare, the Extra Seat took him for a "dark elf girl" at the Sorcerer King's side and wanted to abduct and interrogate this "girl," and that the captive was handed to Entoma and sent to the Frozen Prison, with Aura standing guard (unverified).

Notes

The Vol. 16 cover shows Mare in this revealing formal-wear armor; the Extra Seat's real name was revealed only in the character profiles at the end of Vol. 16.
