Characters
Death Knight
デス・ナイト
Defensive undead summoned by AinzNazarick: Area Guardians & Other NPCsHeteromorphic (Undead)Total Lv35
Personality
Completely obedient to its summoner. Like most undead, it hates the living and delights in slaughter; whether individuals differ is unknown (the one in the bonus novel The Emissary of the King comes across as a considerate office worker). Hamsuke hugged it like a body pillow until the spikes on its body were worn smooth.
Abilities
- Draws all enemy attacks, taking aggro in place of its summoner
- Can survive any one attack with 1 HP
- Those it kills become Squire Zombies
- Unlike ordinary undead, it is not weak to fire; its weakness is that it has no anti-air capability
- Stands 2.3 m tall and wields a flamberge and a tower shield
- Can apparently throw things; it once threw a Quagoa
History
- Summoned by Ainz using a villager's corpse as a medium, it slaughtered Theocracy soldiers disguised as Imperial knights in Carne Village (Vol. 1)
- Mass-produced after the Shalltear incident, since those summoned using corpses do not disappear (Vol. 3)
- One is mentioned that had spawned naturally on the Katze Plains about five years earlier and was captured alive by Fluder and others (Vol. 7)
- About 200, riding Soul Eaters, took part in the massacre (Vol. 9)
- In charge of security patrols and land clearing in E-Rantel (from Vol. 10); mass production resumed in Vol. 14
Trivia
About half of the Death Knights were actually made by Pandora's Actor transformed into Ainz.
Relationships
- Ainz Ooal Gown: Summoner, who greatly strengthens it with his skills
- Pandora's Actor: Can also create them while transformed into Ainz; about half of the Death Knights are his, and they are slightly weaker
- Hamsuke: Training partner and "friend" who hugged it like a body pillow until its armor spikes were worn smooth
- Fluder Paradyne: Once led his disciples in capturing the wild Death Knight of the Katze Plains alive with [Fly] and [Fireball], and tried to dominate it
- Guren: Followed it through the lava in The Emissary of the King, scaring it half to death
