Zern Prince Rescue Mission

ゼルンの王子救出作戦

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 13, early Year 3 after the transfer: after the Sorcerer King's "defeat," Neia and Shizu infiltrated Kalinsha at the request of the demi-human Zern and rescued their imprisoned prince, Beebeezee; the Zern then switched sides and helped the liberation army retake Kalinsha.

Three days after the Sorcerer King's defeat, a Zern envoy came to the liberation army offering to betray Jaldabaoth in exchange for rescuing their prince.
Meanwhile, Shizu appeared with the cover story that "the Sorcerer King had seized control of her from Jaldabaoth during the battle" and joined the liberation army; she and Neia formed the team to rescue the prince, set out two days later, and reached Kalinsha at night about five days after that.
The two rescued the Zern prince Beebeezee, who was imprisoned in a spire in Kalinsha, defeating a water-spirit ogre (Vah Un) on guard along the way.
While escaping, they fought and destroyed the "Circlet Demon," one of Jaldabaoth's lieutenants, who happened to teleport to Kalinsha, and recovered the "Queen Mother" it had been using as equipment and the head of Kelart Custodio, head of the priesthood.
With the Circlet Demon dead, the liberation army retook Kalinsha with surprising ease, aided by Zern insiders; afterward Neia founded a group supporting the Sorcerer King.
Other sources state that the two hid in wooden barrels full of fresh meat, which the Zern carried into the city (draft of Vol. 13), and were sprinkled with odorless perfume to mask their scent (unverified). After the war, the prince and his men solemnly ate the body of the Queen Mother (the prince's first love) as an act of mourning.

Notes

Because magic that only affects demi-humans works on the Zern, even they believe they are demi-humans, but they are actually a Heteromorphic race; their royals look like maggots about 90 cm long that glow purple, very different from ordinary Zern.
