Sunlight Scripture Confrontation

陽光聖典との戦い

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 1, Year 1 after the transfer (within a few days of it): outside Carne Village, Ainz and Albedo crushed the Sunlight Scripture, the Slane Theocracy special unit lying in wait for Gazef, in a head-on fight and captured its captain, Nigun.

The Sunlight Scripture is one of the Slane Theocracy's Six Scriptures, mainly tasked with wiping out demi-human villages; Captain Nigun had the talent "Strengthen Summoned Monsters" and was ordered to assassinate Gazef
Ainz first swapped places with Gazef, sending him back into the village, and then faced the Sunlight Scripture in his place
Cornered, Nigun shattered a "Sealing Crystal" to summon a "Dominion Authority" (regarded locally as the highest angel and said to have defeated an Evil Deity) and ordered it to cast the 7th-tier [Holy Smite]
Ainz took [Holy Smite] head-on and still destroyed the Dominion Authority, after which the Sunlight Scripture collapsed completely
During the fight, someone watching Nigun from afar with information magic was hit by Ainz's counter-information measures; sources record that the watcher, the Slane Theocracy's Miko Princess of Earth, died in a "mysterious explosion," which the Theocracy mistook for the Catastrophe Dragon Lord's revival, so it deployed the Black Scripture
Ainz carried the Sunlight Scripture members back to Nazarick and announced to the NPCs that he had renamed himself "Ainz Ooal Gown"
Nigun later died while Neuronist was interrogating him under [Dominate], because he had been rigged to "die if asked a third question under certain conditions"; Ainz used his corpse as a medium for creating undead
The details, such as the [Negative Burst] with which Ainz wiped out forty-odd angels in one blow (unverified) and the [Black Hole] that swallowed the Dominion Authority (Vol. 1)

Notes

Nigun's Japanese voice actor is Takehito Koyasu; despite the small role, his performance made the character very popular. Sources speculate that the Sealing Crystal held [7th Tier Summon Angel].
