Lore
Massacre at Domain Montserrat
モチャラス男爵領の殲滅
World & HistoryBattles & Events
Vol. 14, sometime in Years 3–5 after the transfer: after the capital fell, Albedo went in person to the domain of Philip, who had started the war, to settle accounts; she executed his people and the two barons who were his accomplices and took Philip away.
- Philip was originally the third son of the minor noble house Montserrat; he became head of the house after his eldest brother died in the Katze Plains massacre, but under his rule the domain's food production fell
- Together with Baron Delvin and Baron Rokerlen of the same New Faction, he attacked the Sorcerer Kingdom's food convoy aiding the Holy Kingdom, and this attack became the Sorcerer Kingdom's pretext for declaring war on the Kingdom
- Philip's actions bewildered Albedo and Demiurge and led them to overthink, and they turned the Sorcerer Kingdom's policy of dealing with the Kingdom indirectly into one of direct invasion
- After the capital fell, Philip refused to admit any fault and shut himself away; Albedo went to his domain and dealt with him and the two barons, along with their people, and the two barons' heads were delivered to Philip
- Philip was taken to the Frozen Prison on the 5th Floor, to a fate somewhere between life and death; in Vol. 15, Albedo is still "doing something" in the Frozen Prison
Notes
Among Japanese readers, "Philip" has become shorthand for "an idiot who thinks he's brilliant"; the character does not exist in the Web novel.
