Great Tomb of Nazarick

ナザリック地下大墳墓

World & HistoryGeography & Nations

The base of the guild Ainz Ooal Gown, originally the guild-base dungeon "Tomb of Nazarick" in Helheim's Grendel Swamp; it has 10 floors in total and appeared whole on a plain beside the Great Forest of Tob after the transfer.

  • In YGGDRASIL, it lay deep in the Grendel Swamp, within the "Purple Poison Swamp" of Helheim, one of the Nine Worlds; it appeared only to those who approached on foot or below a certain altitude
  • The original dungeon was a top-difficulty raid for five parties at once: each of five areas ("Tomb," "Underground Lake," "Glacier," "Great Forest," and "Lava Zone") had a boss, and defeating all of them, almost simultaneously, opened the "Wasteland"; Nishikienrai discovered it, and Punitto Moe organized the five parties for the first blind clear
  • The initial NPC creation allowance was 2,250 levels, plus 500 as the first-clear reward, for 2,750 in total, possibly increased later with cash items; known NPC levels total 1,525 (tally)
  • The guild later expanded it: the tomb grew into floors 1–3, and floors 9 and 10 were added; floors 1–3 are physically connected to one another, as are floors 9 and 10, while the other floors are linked by teleport gates
  • Inside, teleporting between floors is forbidden, and no one can teleport in from outside; holders of the Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown can teleport without limit to rooms with name labels (except the Throne Room and the Cherry Blossom Sanctuary)
  • The largest raid force in the game's history, 1,500 players from an alliance of eight guilds plus mercenaries, once attacked it and was wiped out on reaching the 8th Floor
  • Since the transfer, it has stood north of E-Rantel, about 10 km northeast of Carne Village; Mare raised the terrain with magic to bury and hide the surface area
  • In Vol. 1, Ainz judged that his current forces could wipe out about 30 Lv100 players at once, and that with World Items Nazarick could become an impregnable fortress

Notes

On Twitter, the author shared "a way to invade Nazarick with a very high survival rate": unless your party includes a "mysterious warrior," you will never come back.
