ニグン・グリッド・ルーイン
Captain of the Sunlight Scripture, one of the Six ScripturesSlane TheocracyHumanUnknown (the author says he is "quite strong, but can't become a hero")
Personality
Raised as a priest in the human-first Theocracy and deeply devout, he will kill without hesitation to destroy the Kingdom, which obstructs the unification of humanity. He is calm, experienced, and a strong leader, yet when death draws near he abandons his subordinates to save himself.
Abilities
- His talent "Strengthen Summoned Monsters" fits perfectly with his angel-summoning magic and his duties
- Can use at least 4th-tier divine magic and summon angels such as the Principality Observation
- Holds a "Sealing Crystal" containing a 7th-tier angel-summoning spell, which can summon the "Dominion Authority," regarded as the highest-ranking angel
- Wears black cloth armor woven from enchanted metal thread, with better defense than full plate
History
- Once clashed with the "Blue Roses" and came off badly; the scar on his cheek is said to have been left by Lakyus (background)
- On the cardinal's orders he set out to assassinate the Kingdom's Warrior Captain Gazef; a Theocracy unit disguised as Imperial knights massacred villages to lure Gazef to the Carne Village area (Vol. 1)
- Drove Gazef into a corner with his angels, but Ainz, who appeared in Gazef's place, wiped out every angel (Vol. 1)
- Summoned the Dominion Authority and unleashed [Holy Smite], but the attack only lightly wounded Ainz, the angel was destroyed in a single blow, and the entire unit was captured; the Miko Princess of Earth, who was monitoring the battlefield, also died because of Ainz's counter-intelligence barrier (Vol. 1)
- Under interrogation in Nazarick he died after answering only a few simple questions, because of a curse that "kills him if asked certain questions three times"; Ainz used his body as material for creating undead (Vol. 2)
Trivia
His anime voice actor is Takehito Koyasu; though merely the Vol. 1 villain, he became a fairly popular character.
