ハンゾウ

Ainz's personal bodyguards (ninja-type summoned monsters)Nazarick: Area Guardians & Other NPCsHuman-shaped creature (ninja type)Lv80+

Personality

Absolutely loyal to their summoner. When Ainz tied a red cloth on their leader, it was obviously grinning from ear to ear even behind its mask, which made Ainz feel a little guilty.

Abilities

  • Ninja-type monsters of level 80+, skilled at detecting the invisible
  • Can slip into others' shadows and leave afterimages when running
  • Monsters of the same tier include Kashin Koji (illusions), Fuuma (hand-to-hand), and Tobi Kato (armed combat)

History

  • Ainz summoned five, paying the gold coins out of his own "pocket money," and assigned them to guard and keep watch at diplomatic occasions (Vol. 10)
  • Ainz tied a red cloth on one of them for identification, making it the "Hanzo leader" (Vol. 11)
  • Lent to Caspond (a doppelgänger) of the Holy Kingdom (after Vol. 13)
  • Sent to train the Sorcerer Kingdom's intelligence agents (presumably the absorbed Ijaniya) (Vol. 14)

Trivia

The name comes from Hattori Hanzo. Summoning them costs a great many gold coins, which Ainz hates to spend.

Relationships

  • Ainz Ooal Gown: Summoner; they often lurk around him at diplomatic occasions
  • Caspond Bessarez: Borrowed Hanzos (this Caspond is a doppelgänger)
  • Izaniya: In Vol. 14, the Hanzos trained Ijaniya (presumably absorbed by then), including its female head Tira, as Sorcerer Kingdom intelligence agents (Vol. 14 p. 112)unverified
  • Mare Bello Fiore: Operated alongside Mare in the Vol. 14 assault on the Royal Capital (the JP wiki timeline has only a joking one-line entry); Mare "led a squad of Hanzos" (unverified)
