Gringham
グリンガム
Leader of the worker team "Heavy Masher"Baharuth EmpireHumanUnknown
Personality
The third son of a Kingdom farming family, he can neither read nor write and knows no etiquette. So that the comrades who recognized his worth won't be embarrassed by him, he deliberately speaks in an odd, archaic, stiff manner on the job, using words like "we" and "thou"; clients take it as the team's trademark, while in private he complains that talking that way is exhausting.
Abilities
- Short and stocky, with a dwarf-like build suited to combat; wears steel-colored, beetle-like full plate and uses an axe and a shield
- Leads a large worker team of 14 members and has excellent management skills; as a whole the team is roughly equivalent to mithril-rank adventurers
- Widely knowledgeable, with his own judgments on the strength of swordsmen inside and outside the Empire
History
- Third son of a Kingdom farming family (the claim that his brothers deprived him of his inheritance and he left home is unverified); through effort and organizational talent he became a well-known worker (background)
- Accepted Count Femel's request and picked a five-man squad from his 14 members to join the Nazarick investigation; on the way he sparred lightly with the adventurer Momon (Ainz) and was deeply impressed by his top-tier bearing (Vol. 7)
- Worn down by endless undead and traps in the underground tomb, his squad was forced to flee (Vol. 7)
- While fleeing he triggered a trap and was teleported to the second floor's "Black Capsule," where he and the thief fell into Kyouhukou's hands; he is presumed to have been devoured by the swarm of cockroaches (Vol. 7)
Trivia
In the anime he and the Martial Lord Go Gin are voiced by the same actor, Yasuhiro Mamiya; quite a few viewers mistook him for a dwarf because of his build and axe.
Relationships
- Ainz Ooal Gown: Sparred lightly with Momon on the way to the ruin and was won over by his top-tier bearing
- Kyouhukou: He and the thief were teleported to Kyouhukou's "Black Capsule"
- Erya Uzruth: Believes Erya is stronger than Brain was in the past
