Nine Worlds
九つの世界
World & HistoryBasics
YGGDRASIL's map consists of nine worlds formed from the nine leaves remaining on the World Tree, each two or three times the size of Tokyo; three of them favor Heteromorphic races.
- The nine worlds: Asgard, Alfheim, Vanaheim, Nidavellir, Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim
- Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim favor Heteromorphic races and grow more dangerous toward their frontiers; Heteromorphic players rarely leave these three worlds (BD bonus novel)
- Helheim: a world of eternal night and cold beneath black clouds; on its frontier lies the "Plain of Piercing Crystals," where every step causes damage, and about 100 m beyond it is the "Purple Poison Swamp," deep within which lies the Grendel Swamp, where Nazarick stands
- Web novel: Asgard has the "Sky Castle," a guild base that rivals Ainz Ooal Gown's; the depths of Helheim hold the "Glacier Castle," and Muspelheim has the "Birthplace of Fire Giants"
- Niflheim has the "Frozen Castle," which appears only in blizzards; its ocean zone, "Noatun," allows undersea adventures, and seafood from there has been served at Nazarick's tables
- Teleport services connect the worlds and their cities; a player who enters a new area with a relevant special ability (such as herbalism) gains extra information
Notes
The winner of each world's official tournament can take the title of that world's "World Champion"; in the Web novel, Touch Me won the Alfheim tournament.
