リザードマンの部族間戦争(食糧戦争)
World & HistoryBattles & Events
Background to Vol. 4, about 2 years before the transfer: the seven lizardman tribes on the southern shore of the Great Lake in the Great Forest of Tob went to war over poor catches, and the war left five tribes where there had been seven.
- The cause was that the catch could not feed every tribe; hunters crossed boundaries to fish, clashes at the fishing grounds left people dead, and then the tribes began sending warriors along, until it escalated into a war over food
- Victors: Green Claw, Small Fang, and Razor Tail; losers: Yellow Speckle and Sharp Edge; Red Eye and Dragon Tusk did not take part
- The Sharp Edge chief was defeated by Shasuryu and Zaryusu (the Shasha brothers), and Zaryusu has carried "Frost Pain," one of the Four Treasures that Sharp Edge used to hold, ever since
- The two defeated tribes dissolved, and the survivors joined Dragon Tusk, which had not fought
- With the population sharply reduced, there was actually enough food afterward; Zaryusu once regarded the war as "a means of reducing the lizardmen's numbers to avoid famine"
- After the war, Zaryusu became a "traveler" and journeyed abroad; he returned about a year before the transfer and started farming fish with methods learned from the "forest people"
- The three-tribe alliance forged in this war became the basis of the later lizardman coalition against Nazarick (unverified; Japanese sources only record that Zaryusu newly proposed the tribal coalition in Vol. 4)
Notes
The Japanese sources' timeline orders events as "2 years ago: lizardman tribal war → 1 year ago: Zaryusu returns," matching the opening of Vol. 4.
