Battle of Kalinsha

カリンシャ陥落

World & HistoryBattles & Events

Vol. 12, autumn of Year 2 after the transfer: after leading the demi-human coalition through the Roble Holy Kingdom's Great Wall, the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth appeared directly in the northern fortress city of Kalinsha and crippled Holy Queen Calca and the main forces; the northern Holy Kingdom fell.

  • Kalinsha is the most heavily fortified city in the Holy Kingdom's north and a royal domain; it lies just behind the Great Wall and is first in the line of fire, and at its highest point stands a castle built specifically to withstand sieges
  • A few days after the Wall fell, Jaldabaoth appeared inside Kalinsha; the Holy Kingdom had planned to hold out until reinforcements arrived, but false intelligence about the demi-human army's march deceived it, and the plan collapsed
  • Calca gathered her elite guard, 25 elite paladins under Remedios, elite priests under Kelart, and high-ranking adventurers to face Jaldabaoth in the square; the remaining 300 or so paladins defended the walls under Gustav
  • Calca tried to talk with Jaldabaoth to learn his aims, then had angels surround him; five high-ranking adventurers who approached while invisible launched a surprise attack but failed to hurt him
  • Jaldabaoth revealed his true form, caught the retreating Calca with [Greater Teleportation], grabbed her by the legs, and swung her around as a club-like "weapon"; Calca's whereabouts were unknown thereafter
  • Kalinsha fell, and with it the northern Holy Kingdom; the port city of Rimun fell soon after
  • Later, Jaldabaoth appeared at Loyts carrying Calca's rotted lower half, which the liberation army cremated; the whereabouts of her upper half are unknown; later still, when the liberation army rescued the Zern prince, it also recovered Kelart's head

Notes

In the film Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, Calca's clothes burn away as she is used as a club. Japanese sources speculate that "Kalinsha" may come from "char" + "incur," alluding to Calca's fate in the city.
