World & HistoryOrganizations
The Slane Theocracy's strongest unit: 12 (13) members, all hero-class and equipped with gear left by the gods, whose duties are countering the revival of the Catastrophe Dragon Lord and guarding World Items; almost everyone in the Theocracy who reaches the realm of heroes is recruited into it.
- They wear magic masks to disguise their faces on missions; their overseer, Earth Cardinal Raymond, is the former 3rd Seat (Vol. 10)
- Extra Seat "Zesshi Zetsumei": the half-elf Antilene, the Theocracy's strongest; 1st Seat (Captain): a God-kin whose "player" blood has awakened, who carries a shabby spear
- Known Seats: the 3rd, "Four Great Spirits"; the 5th, Quaiesse (Clementine's brother; "One Man Army" is his title in the Web novel); the 7th, "Thousand Leagues Astrologer"; the 8th, "Huge Shield, Myriad Barriers" Cedran; the 9th, "Divine Chain" Beaumarchais; the 10th, a barbarian ("humanity's strongest" in the Web novel); the 11th, "Infinite Magic"; the 12th is an assassin more skilled than Tia and Tina
- In Vol. 3 they set out escorting Kaire and Ruinous Beauty and encountered Shalltear; 2 members died (later revived), and Kaire was gravely wounded
- In Vol. 10, the Thousand Leagues Astrologer despaired after watching the Katze Plains massacre and shut herself away; her ability is how the Theocracy learned of the Sorcerer Kingdom's invasion of the Kingdom (Vol. 15)
- In Vol. 14, the 5th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Seats infiltrated the Kingdom to poach skilled adventurers; Clementine is the former 9th Seat, "Windstride," who defected
- Infinite Magic was once arrogant about being a hero, but after the Extra Seat beat him badly in the name of training, he became fearful and servile toward her
Notes
In the story of the mobile game OVERLORD: MASS FOR THE DEAD, the Black Scripture was wiped out after failing a mission involving the "Rift" anomaly, and some members could not be revived (game setting).
