Characters
Ulbert Alain Odle
ウルベルト・アレイン・オードル
Demon of Great Disaster, the guild's strongest casterAinz Ooal Gown Guild (Supreme Beings)Goat-headed demon (heteromorph)Total Lv100
Personality
A chuunibyou who is more obsessed with "evil" than anyone else in the guild and loves playing the villain. In real life he came from poverty, and his parents died in workplace accidents; he believes the world is divided from birth and that rising through effort is a lie. That is why he cannot stand Touch Me, a winner at life, though he also knows it is mere envy.
Abilities
- Holds World Disaster, the strongest caster class; his burst damage is among the highest in the guild
- The ultimate spell [Grand Catastrophe], with a different incantation every time; learned only by maxing out the World Disaster class, it consumes 60% of his maximum MP and is more powerful than super-tier magic (BD bonus novel The Prequel, Part II, p. 93)
- His weakness is that his MP consumption far outstrips his reserves, and World Disaster's passive damage boost cannot be turned off, like a curse
- Made his own Armageddon Evil demon statue in imitation of a World Item that summons an army of demons
History
- Joined "Nine's Own Goal" and quarreled constantly with Touch Me, but agreed to nominate Momonga as guildmaster (game era)
- In the conquest of Nazarick he was in the same party as Momonga, and the two opened up about the parents they had each lost young
- Designed the 7th Floor and created Demiurge
- When he retired, he left his equipment and items in Momonga's keeping
- During "Gehenna" in the Royal Capital, the "demon statue" Jaldabaoth publicly claimed to be searching for was the item Ulbert made in imitation of a World Item, which casts [Armageddon Evil] six times at once; Ainz separately gave Demiurge a prototype that casts it three times (Vol. 6)
- Ainz repeatedly recalled his feud with Touch Me and his cynical words about the world (Vols. 7, 10, and 15)
Trivia
His name may evoke the British illustrator Alan Odle, known for his grotesque style (a reader's association) (unverified); the romanization given in sources is "urbelt arraigning odoru."
