Pabel Baraja
パベル・バラハ
"Black" of the Holy Kingdom's Nine Colors / platoon sergeantRoble Holy KingdomHumanUnknown
Personality
His eyes are so menacing that he is said to look like a murderer, but he is actually henpecked and a doting father who can't stop talking about his daughter. When she is praised he makes a demonic face, but he is really just embarrassed. He is earnest and dependable at work.
Abilities
- A marksman who never misses; his arrows, stacked with martial arts and skills, rival the power of a heavy warrior's full-strength slash
- Trained to see in the dark, with keen senses as a ranger
- Equipped with many magic items, including an anti-demi-human composite longbow, a Mantle of Shadow, Boots of Silence, a Vest of Resistance, and a Deflection Ring
- Once defeated the warrior Orlando in a close-combat mock battle
History
- A career soldier whose wife is a paladin and whose daughter is Neia Baraja; his daughter inherited her archery talent from him
- Stationed on the Holy Kingdom's great wall, he was chatting with Orlando when the alarm bell announcing a demi-human attack rang (Vol. 12; the claim that "he was the first to notice the allied army" is unverified)
- Led the archer unit in trying to shoot down the allied army's leader Jaldabaoth, but the arrows had no effect
- Killed instantly along with his men by Jaldabaoth's [Meteor Fall], recalling in his final moments the days he had spent with his wife and daughter
Trivia
A character original to the published novels who does not appear in the Web novel; in the film Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom he wears a soft fedora.
Relationships
- Neia Baraja: His beloved daughter who inherited his talent; when she was little they often went camping together and he taught her ranger skills
- Orlando Campano: A fellow member of the Nine Colors; Pabel once beat him in a mock battle but is no longer a match for him in close combat
